Yay, I don't have breast cancer!

Sadly, this was a possibility for about 3 weeks. I went to the doctor on June 3 for my annual physical and she found a small lump. The doctor said not to worry about it. Ridiculous - I don't know how NOT to worry.

I went to my ob/gyn for a second opinion and he was concerned enough to order an ultrasound. He said it was probably just a cyst and nothing to be concerned about but wanted to be sure.

Last Wednesday, the 22nd, I had my ultrasound. First, I have to give props to Wake Med here in Cary. They are so organized, the waiting area is very nice, and they actually took me in well before my scheduled appointment time since I was early. And the tech in the radiology lab was very professional but helped me relax. She did the ultrasound, took it to the doctor in the lab, and came back to give me the good news.

Turns out I have an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny cyst so small they're surprised we can even feel it. Nothing to worry about at all! I officially got the "all-clear" from the ob/gyn in the mail on Saturday along with a request to come back in 3 months to double-check.

I'm 27 years old, in relatively good health, but there is cancer (specifically breast cancer) in the family. Mentally it was a really exhausting 3 weeks. Thinking, worrying, waiting... I just thought I'd share some good news since so often I'm complaining or whining in this blog. It's been an eye-opening experience for me. Also, for those of you that aren't having regular exams or doing self-checks, please do! It's so important.

And big thanks to Patti, Renee, my SBD girls, and especially my husband for keeping me somewhat under control during all this. You guys rock!
