Back to School

I'll skip all the boring details of "why" but the result is that I've recently decided to take a class or two, maybe some workshops. After a lot of research, I chose to begin with an online course through UCLA Extension.

Copy Editing I looked like a good place to start - regardless of all my "why", good communication skills are important in many areas of life. Class began this past Tuesday and already I'm wondering what I've gotten myself into. Verb tense, dangling participles, hyphens vs dashes (yes, there is a difference)...

Now comes the part where I need to learn how to focus again. I'm easily distracted, especially when I get frustrated with things. Right now, there are a lot of things to be frustrated with - the online learning platform, the lack of interaction, the material. I'm hoping to find my stride soon and if it all goes well, I'll look at taking another course in the Spring.

In the meantime, maybe you'll see an increase in the quality of posts around here. But I wouldn't count on it. ;)

My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling, but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places. -A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh
