My Birthday - Prime Only
Our friend Paul from NY is in town on business and since Mike's busy schedule has him tied up most nights, we decided to invite Paul for my dinner. We went to Prime Only in North Raleigh. We've only been there once before - to celebrate my new job at Town of Apex so almost 6 years ago.
We started with crab dip, which was delicious. Then for my main course, I ordered prime rib. It was huge! Still, prime rib isn't so easy to do at home so I try to take advantage of it when I'm somewhere that specializes in that kind of thin. Mike and Paul both got filet mignon.
For dessert, I ordered the chocolate cheesecake, which was enormous and very good. I also had a glass of Castle Rock Pinot Noir.
I'm still craving my chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing but I'm going to wait until this weekend for those. That way I can make Mike's classmates eat them when they come over to watch a movie for class on Saturday. Less cupcakes for me to eat that way.

Prine Only was good, but being way up in North RAleigh didn't help, so we haven't been back.
I prefer the Capitol City Chophouse, myself.. and Angus Barn if I'm in the mood to REALLY spend money.
I'm also a huge fan of the Chop House, especially their calamari. We recently received a coupon for their old "2 people for $50" special that had been discontinued but it's only good for Fri/Sat nights. We will make use of it soon though!
We have a gift certificate for Angus Barn also and while the food and service are great, I've been really unimpressed by the atmosphere the last few times we went. Loud and crowded. If I'm going to drop that kind of cash for dinner, I like to be able to carry on a conversation without the yelling. We're going to insist on being seated downstairs next time - we've been upstairs the last couple of times.
We got that coupon too, and I saved it!
As for the Angus Barn.. it's definately not the quiet, fancy, romantic dinner place, I'll agree with you there... I still love going there, though we've only been there maybe 4 times in the 9 years we've lived in North Carolina.
