Worst Migraine in Awhile

Last week, I had a lot of headaches but I know what triggered them. I then had a great weekend with no headaches on Saturday or Sunday. Monday morning, I felt great until about noon and then it all went downhill.

By 4pm, it was clear I wasn't going to be able to drive myself home from work so I went ahead and took some vicodin while I waited for Mike to come get me. It was 5:30 before he was able to pick me up and at that point I knew nothing I had at home was going to stop the hurting so we decided I should go to the hospital.

We went to the new WakeMed Apex Healthplex, which is basically a huge emergency department. We were seen almost immediately though when you're in that kind of pain it still feels like forever. We decided to start an IV rather than continually poking me with needles. The first round of meds didn't have any affect at all except a little drowsiness. The second round of meds completely knocked me out but also took away the headache. Finally.

In all, we were there about 4 hours. The staff was great and took good care of me. The doctor gave me a referral to Raleigh Neurology so I guess after all these years I'm finally going to go see a specialist. It should've been done ages ago. Especially since they're located just at the end of our street.

Today, I feel fine except for still being very tired. Let's hope it lasts.

I was just now wondering if there was anything that could actually push my headache into a full blown migraine... and there you are. -Dr. Cox, "Scrubs" (2001)
