Sick Kitty
Cut to Wednesday morning. Ripley decides he's only eating half his crunchies. Wednesday night? About a quarter of his ration. Thursday morning? Two bites. We thought it was a hunger strike, protesting the new meal plan but while making dinner last night, I noticed he was limping badly on his front left foot. He also felt hot to touch and refused to eat again.
So this morning, bright and early, Ripley took another car ride to the vet. Normal kitty temperature is 101° - his was 103.8°. The fever is likely why he's not eating. He didn't even protest when they had to take his temp twice due to a dead battery in the first thermometer. They looked him over closely and couldn't find any bites or abscesses even though those are the most common cause of fever.
Poor kitty did not enjoy his exam but he was mostly compliant, even when the vet gave him a shot of anti-inflammatory. He also gets liquid antibiotics twice a day for the next week. All we can really do is keep an eye on him and hope he feels better soon. If not, back to the vet he goes.
Get well soon, Ripley!
